Show Rules

Entries:

1. All entries must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor and shown in the approved cage.  Exhibitors must be a current member of the Adelaide Zebra Finch Society.

2. Birds for the young bird show, must be rung with the last years zebra finch rings and be owner bred.

3. Cage stickers to be attached to the bottom left-hand side of the front rail.  No other marks shall appear on any cage!

4. No Addition can be made on the entry form after they have been received by the Show Manager, after entries close.

5. Entry fees of birds not exhibited shall not be refunded and all entries to be paid for prior to the show.

6. Entry fees shall be determined annually by the Committee at the Annual General Meeting.

 

Exhibiting:

1. Birds rung with club rings and transferred to club Member, disposed of or lost must be registered with the Ring Steward.

2. All birds in the young bird classes, must be bred and rung by the exhibitor with the current year zebra finch rings.

3. All birds exhibited in the young bird classes, for example: young bird show birds, to be rung with the current years official closed ring and be owner bred with the option of having one split ring only.

4. The approved cages are:

    The Adelaide Zebra Finch Society show cage

                                or

    The New South Wales Finch show cage

Perches:  Two 10mm., (3/8"), dowel mounted tenth vertical bar from each end, parallel to bottom and resting on lower cross bar.

Drinkers:  Standard drinker pushed between 2nd and 3rd vertical bar from left hand side of cage and mounted above the centre cross bar. 

Drinkers must be pushed-between, bar type.

5. Seed Mix - Any commercially mixed finch seed covering floor area.

6. Staging area must not be entered during staging and judging of birds, except at the Show Managers discretion.

7. Partnerships or family Memberships may elect to show as teams or individuals.  However, the chosen category must remain in force throughout the current show season.

8. Pairs shall consist of a cock and hen of the same variety and colour.

9. The Committee and Members of the Society, while exerting all due care, shall not be responsible for any loss, damage or injury to any exhibit, all birds are shown at the sole risk of the exhibitor.

10. The Committee reserves the right to accept or reject any entry without explanation; and further, to reject any exhibit which appears sick, or any cage which is dirty.

11. Any matters arising from the conduct of shows, including protests, disputes or misconduct will be dealt with by a Disputes Committee as organised by Show Manager prior to commencement of the said show.  Protests must be in the hands of the Disputes Committee, before conclusion of the said show.

12. A Judge's decision is final, except in the case of misrepresentation, intentional or otherwise.

13. Any person attempting to defraud the club or deceive or influence the judge in any way, shall be disqualified from showing any birds in any classes in this club for a period to be determined by the Committee.

14. Exhibits must not be removed until permission is given by the Show Manager.

15. Three birds of the same variety will make up a class.  Where there are five or more birds in a class, with a minimum of two exhibitors, a special prize will be awarded.

16. At the discretion of the Show Manager, wrong classed birds, may be re-classed before judging has started.

17. Junior Exhibitor - Any Member up to the age of 16 at the beginning of the Societies financial year.  On leaving the junior class, the exhibitor will be entitled to show in the novice class.

18. Novice Exhibitor - Any Member, who had not won two major awards or has shown for less than five years.  After five years, the Member may apply to the Committee in writing to remain in the Novice class.

19. Once a Member shows in classes above the Member's current status and the current status classes are available, regardless of the result, the Member will stay in that higher status for future shows.

20. Two or more Members may live at the same address and show at different levels, providing they each purchase and hold separate Memberships and purchase separate club rings per Membership.

21. The Show Manager shall make entry forms and show schedules available to Members at least one month prior to the date of entries closing.

22. The Show Manager shall make known to the Members at least one month before a Major Show, the names of Judges, Stewards, Runners, Ticket Writers and Disputes Committee (Consisting of 3 people).
